Title: An Implementation Guide to Promote Accessible Healthcare for People with Disabilities

Summary: Healthcare organizations, even the most well-intentioned, remain largely inaccessible and inequitable for people with disabilities. Few comprehensive, evidence-based resources exist to support healthcare organizations, clinicians, and staff in delivering high-quality care for patients with disabilities. The Disability Equity Collaborative created "Accessible Healthcare for People with Disabilities: An Implementation Guide for Healthcare Organizations" To fill this gap. This presentation will provide an overview of the Disability Equity Collaborative’s work and review the step-by-step guidance, tools, and resources available in its Implementation Guide for HCOs of all sizes to improve disability access.

Presenters:

Dr. Megan Morris is the Founder and Director of the Disability Equity Collaborative. She is an Associate Professor and Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at NYU Langone Health. The goal of her research is to improve the quality of health and healthcare services for people with disabilities. Her research and advocacy are deeply informed by both personal and professional experiences with ableism in the healthcare setting.

Eve Schoenberg is the Project Coordinator for the Disability Equity Collaborative at NYU Langone Health. Previously, she worked on Capitol Hill in communications and health and disability policy roles.
