On the First Thursday of every month at 11:30 EST ADHCE provides a networking opportunity to members and interested guests. The monthly meeting includes presentations around current topics of interest, advocacy, and announcements for upcoming events. You can also learn more about the organization and the wonderful work of its members. Students are welcomed.

November 2, 2023 Speaker:

Chairman Gallegos will speak about the National Council on Disability (NCD) historical efforts to address disability healthcare inequity. NCD’s efforts include advocacy for disability healthcare curriculum inclusion in medical schools and is further advocating for disability curriculum content inclusion in all other clinical professions (e.g. nursing, social work, occupational/physical/speech and language therapy, psychology, dentistry).

During this presentation, Chairman Gallegos will highlight NCD’s collaborations with experts producing a 15 page, Healthcare Curriculum guideline within a Policy Brief, “Framework to End Health Disparities of People with Disabilities”. The report included suggested NCD Core Competencies to inform professional healthcare institutions when designing a Disability Curriculum Framework.  NOTE: Within this NCD report, ADHCE’s Core Competencies 1-6 are recognized and used. ADHCE Core Competencies were created in partnership with Ohio Disability & Health Program (Core Competencies on Disability for Health Care Education, The Ohio State University).

Don't miss this informative November ADHCE meeting.
